A veces nos torturamos con la originalidad de nuestro trabajo, cuando lo que tenemos que aprender es que hace muchos, muchos años, alguien ya inventó un lenguaje del que nos creemos creadores. Hay fuentes geniales de las que beber, que por muchos años que pasen, sus aguas seguirán tan frescas como lo fueron en su momento.
Sometimes we tend to torture ourselves with our artwork’s uniqueness, and what we should do is learning that many years ago someone already invented a language we now think we just created. There are great sources from the past we must look at to understand what we want to be in our future artworks.

It’s year 2016 and trends bring us a very special and rich iconography.. but what it really carries is a fantastic world of references, a very wide background… and it is as wide and long as all the years behind us, since the moment this thing called «children’s books illustration» began.

Poco a poco intento recopilar mi propia colección de libros antiguos, tanto comprados en rastrillos, como en ferias del libro, como por internet. Una buena fuente para conocer y descubrir a estos autores es Pinterest, donde yo tengo un tablero específico para estos artistas.
Little by little, I am putting together my own collection of old books, which I buy on flea markets, book fairs or either in the internet.
No soy ninguna experta, más bien soy una recién llegada, así que mi lista de recomendaciones es la que podría hacer cualquiera con un poquito de curiosidad. Pero bien, son mis referencias y son autores que creo que, hoy en día, influyen más en el trabajo de los actuales ilustradores.
I am not an expert at all, I am more like a new arrival to this world, so my list of recommendations is the same as any from someone curious. But well, these are my references and they are the authors that I believe, nowadays, have influence the most on the contemporary illustrators.
